5 Song Music Meme
Oct. 30th, 2010 02:38 pmSo,
ilyena_sylph gave me a letter for this meme: P! Originally I didn't think I had enough songs that started with P to get to five, however, towards the end they started piling up and now I have to pick. Since I don't have that many, however, you'll get all the also-rans.
Proud Mary - Creedence Clearwater Revival (with Spanish subtitles! Yay!)
I practically teethed on this kind of music. CCR, Three Dog Night, Boston, and The Allman Brothers were my father's favorite bands, so I heard these guys a lot. I love the expressive guitar mini-solos, with the high twang that's practically a Southern Rock signature.
Pinball Wizard - The Who
I love The Who in general, but this is one of those famous songs that you've probably heard, no matter who you are, at least once. You may not know who they are but you know the song. The Who excel at story-songs and evoking a sense of atmosphere with their music, and this is a great example.
Powerful Stuff - The Fabulous Thunderbirds
The Fabulous Thunderbirds got mixed up in the mythology of the movie Cocktail with this song. This song is country rock, with vocals that sound like a high-pitched Kenny Rogers, heavy percussion and rock'n'roll guitar style in the back. Plus there's a harmonica. Who doesn't like a harmonica?
Possession (Piano Version) - Sarah McLachlan
I can't extract this song from Due South or the original character I roleplay that got helplessly intertwined with this one. I like this version so much more than the mainstream version - this was a hidden track on Sarah's "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" album. I can't say a ton about the song itself. The piano is so expressive, and she sounds so raw.
Playing With the Boys - Kenny Loggins
I have nothing to say about this song or why I like it - OR the movie it came from - except for this video and this one. It just makes me giggle like an idiot every time I hear it.
Also-rans:
Poker Face - Lady GaGa
Penny on the Train Track - Ben Kweller
Play - Jennifer Lopez
Pedal to the Metal - Kazzer
Penny Lane - The Beatles
Photograph - Nickelback
Plenty - Sarah McLachlan
Please, Baby - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Poisoning Pigeons in the Park - Tom Lehrer
Polkas on 45 - Weird Al Yankovic
If you want to play, just comment and I'll give you a letter!
